Srinagar, Jan 8: Omar Abdullah proved that he is a true well-wisher of the people of the state where he has been elected as the Chief Minister (CM). When the aam-aadmi of the state has been suffering over unprecedented snowfall following power and electricity crisis all around Jammu Kashmir, the CM directed authorities to cut power supply to the residences of all VIPs including to his own house.

Omar on Sunday, Jan 8 also asked the Power Development Department (PDD) officials to supply to divert the scarce electricity to essential places such as hospitals, army camp and other important offices.

A senior official of PDD stated, "It did take us some time to understand the order but was complied with immediately as it had come from none other than the Chief Minister himself."

The unexpected snowfall at the valley in early Jan 2012 damaged transmission lines causing trouble for Kishanpur-Wagoora Transmission Line at Pogal Paristan besides affecting as many as 19 grid stations.

Meanwhile, describing the present situation at the valley, the CM from his personal Twitter account tweeted, "I know why its down, its called unprecedented levels of snow in areas where it was unexpected."

"Power Grid working on the snapped transmission line, I hope they can give us 500 MW of power this evening. Will get the latest update soon," added the CM.
