Jaya's memorial for engg; bribe to win Mullaperiyar battle?

"I am happy to announce that a memorial to thankfully remember Cuick will be built at a cost of Rs one crore and over 2500 sq ft at the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board premises in Lower Camp. Upon its completion, Cuick''s grandson will be invited for its inauguration," said J Jayalalithaa said in a statement here, adding that a statue of the engineer will also be set up there.
She also praised the army engineer and said that he sold his property and completed the project amidst much hardship and difficulty.
She further said that he used lime kurki and big stones to build the dam which has still kept the dam strong and given it the strenght to hold up to tremors.
The "dam is strong even today," said Jayalalithaa.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Kerala, Oomen Chandy on Saturday, Jan 7 said that he hoped that Tamil Nadu agreed to a new dam at Mullaperiyar.
The raging issue has been a bone of contention between the neighbouring states, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for a long time.
