Mullaperiyar: Kerala hoping for a yes from TN for a new dam

“We should agree to the idea of a new dam,” he said. “We can make reasonable adjustments,” he reasoned.
Further talking over the issue, he said that he was disheartened by the response he got from J Jayalalithaa.
“The dam is safe. But continuous earthquakes are happening there. If it crosses 6 on the Richter scale it may affect the dam,” he said talking about the earthquake prone area.
Meanwhile, reports reveal that the report submitted by Kerala in the Kerala High Court and Kerala's campaign that if the Mullaperiyar dam collapsed then 50 lakh people would lose their lives varied.
While Kerala has been campaigning that 50 lakh people would die if the Mullaperiyar dam collapsed, the report submitted to the Kerala High Court said that only 450 families would get affected if the dam collapsed.
