MP: Girl's gang rape MMS surfaces after suicide

Bhopal, Jan 6: Two weeks after a minor girl committed suicide, an MMS that featured the girl being gangraped by four did the rounds in Harda town, Madhya Pradesh.

The 15-year-old girl ended her life after she came back from school on Dec 14. Initial investigations reveal that the girl was threatened by two youths the day she committed suicide.

The accused have been booked under the charges of abatement to suicide and eve teasing. Even as a chargesheet was to be filed against the accused, the MMS was doing the rounds in the town.

The victim's family copied the footage and submitted it to the police. According to sources, the CD showed four people involved in gang rape, as they took turns to rape the girl, the victim can be heard screaming. The accused too can be heard in the CD of threatening her that they would circulate the MMS and upload it on internet.

“They seemed to have threatened her on December 16 that if she does not agree for more illicit relationship with them, they will make the MMS public. When she protested, they gave the clip to some of their friends which subsequently got circulated,” said a police officer wishing anonymity.

“Once identification of the victim in the footage is ascertained, the accused would be charged with section of rape and their accomplices would also be arrested,” said Harda Superintendent of Police RS Uike.
