Chinese court releases 12 Indian diamond merchants
The merchants have arrived in India at around 2 pm on Friday. The prisoners were greeted by concerned relatives and friends at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
They were arrested by the Chinese customs at Shenzen two years back for allegedly involving in the smuggling of diamonds from Hongkong to China.
The Chinese court had found them guilty and sentenced to imprisonment. Meanwhile nine were found guilty of the charges and convicted to serve jail terms by the court.
After arriving in the country, some of the merchants got into arguments with media persons who tried to communicate with them. Later they returned to their homes.
