Indian girl raped, 'Evil' US detective gets 32 yrs jail

New York, Jan 5: 39-year-old Jerry Ramrattan, a private detective, has been convicted in a rape case and sentenced to 32 years in jail by a court in New York city.

Ramrattan raped his ex-girlfriend, an Indian origin girl, 36-year-old Seemona Sumasar. Moreover, the victim was falsely implicated in a robbery case by Ramrattan and put behind bars for seven months.

Finally, Sumasar received justice when the court pronounced its verdict charging Ramrattan of first-degree rape, perjury, conspiracy, tampering with a witness.

According to sources, after having a heated argument, Ramrattan locked Sumasar in the basement of her residence and forcibly raped her. The culprit was a tenant in the victim's house. Later, the culprit along with three other persons hatched a conspiracy and falsely implicated the victim in two robbery cases.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said, "The sentence provides a measure of justice for this victim, who survived a nightmarish rape only to be victimised again when she was arrested on robbery charges and sent to jail away from her daughter, away from her business and facing the prospect of many years in prison."

"You're evil, you're a sociopath and you need help," chided the poor victim who lost valuable time of her life behind the bars without committing any sin.
