Lokpal heat finally hits Parl;Winter session to resume soon?

LK Advani and Arun Jaitley
New Delhi, Jan 5: Veteran leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), LK Advani and Arun Jaitley on Thursday, Jan 5 finally met President Pratibha Patil and submitted a memorandum demanding the reconvening of Parliament session to discuss Lokpal Bill.

Raising the issue of voting on Lokpal Bill, BJP leaders claimed that the Parliament session should be resumed soon. Citing the main opposition party's demand, many started speculating that the House may resume its winter session to get a final solution of the Lokpal dispute. While Jaitley stated, "Lokpal fisaco was a subversion of the Parliamentary system," Advani demanded a minute probe to unearth the fiasco.

Advani, while informing about their meeting with the President, said, "We urged President that probe be ordered into Lokpal fiasco."

BJP alleges that the government manipulated the proceedings at the Upper House on Dec 29 to avoid a vote considering that they were not in majority in the Rajya Sabha. They will also express their displeasure at the way Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari conducted himself.
