BJP raises Lokpal heat; to knock President Patil's doors

New Delhi, Jan 5: With the Opposition BJP determined to take the fight for an effective Lokpal Bill to the next level, they will meet President Prathiba Patil on Thursday. A high level delegation is expected to meet the President at 12 PM to register their official protest over the midnight fiasco at the Rajya Sabha over the Lokpal Bill.

The BJP alleges that the government manipulated the proceedings at the Upper House on Dec 29 to avoid a vote considering that they are not in majority there. They will also express their displeasure at the way Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari conducted himself.

The BJP delegation will be led by senior BJP leader LK Advani and BJP President Nitin Gadkari. BJP leader Sushma Swaraj accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee of creating the conspiracy that led to the midnight fiasco.

The BJP will also launch a week-long nationwide protest against the Congress over the Lokpal matter.
