Emergency preparedness checked at Chennai airport

Chennai, Dec 29: Combined teams today conducted an 'exercise' at the Chennai airport here, to analyse the preparedness of various agencies, including the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), in the event of an emergency.

"It is an excercise we conduct every year. Evacuatiuon drill was conducted at the Arrival of the international terminal," Airport Director EP Hareendranathan told PTI.

The excercise was conducted to check the preparedness of the officials in the event of an emergency like a bomb threat, he said. Various agencies including the AAI, the CISF and officials from Directorate General of Civil Aviation among others participated in the event.
