Anna's health worrisome; but adamant on fast

New Delhi, Dec 28: With the Lokpal Bill getting passed in the Lok Sabha, Anna Hazare is still adamant to carry on his three-day fast in spite of the rising concerns regarding his health. Even as Team Anna members requesting the aging crusader to call off his fast in lieu of his deteriorating health, Anna appeared adamant to fulfill his commitment to the janta.

Anna has been suffering from viral fever since the last few days and sources claimed that he might be shifted to hospital soon. Doctors checking on him said that both his pulse rate and blood pressure are high and had a 102 degree fever last night.

Appeals are pouring in from various quarters to call off his fast. Manish Sisodia, a key member of Team Anna has been quoted as saying, "Annaji still has fever, want him to call off fast." Other members Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and even Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar have requested Anna to call of his fast. Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan has also appealed to Anna.

74-year-old Anna's health is causing grave concern among all. He is being continuously monitored by a team of doctors. Last night, after checking on Anna's vital parameters, doctors stated that his fever had shot up to 102 degree F; blood pressure was at 170/96 and his pulse rate had gone up to 98.

India Against Corruption (IAC) member Preeti Sharma Menon has been quoted as saying, "Anna's health has deteriorated but he is not going to be hospitalised at this moment. The IAC members are still persuading him to withdraw his fast. IAC has also called some expert doctors. Few more tests would be conducted on Hazare. At this moment he is sleeping."

She added, "A five-member team of private doctors is attending on Anna Hazare. Also a four-member team from the state-run JJ hospital is observing him. Medical check-up on Hazare would be conducted again. The medical reports would be given to the government not the IAC. His condition is fluid."

Doctors who checked on Anna last night commented, "There is an imbalance in the physical parameters because of which Anna's blood pressure has increased from 140/86 in the morning to 170/96 now. There is also some infection in his chest due to cough. Because of fever Anna hasn't been able to eat for the past 4-5 days. His health is deteriorating and he is not in a position to walk."

The doctors added, "Anna was suffering from fever since the last 4-5 days. Yesterday, his fever was a bit low but he had fever throughout today. He is also facing acute weakness. His pulse rate has also gone up to 98 as compared to what it was in the morning."
