Rupee declines by 8 paise against US dollar in early trade

The domestic currency had notched up a gain of 25 paise to close at Rs 52.71/72 against the dollar in the previous session on fresh dollar-selling by exporters amid a smart rally in domestic equities.
Dealers said apart from the lower opening in the equity market, some dollar demand from importers put pressure on the rupee. However, euro gains against the American currency limited the losses, they said. The BSE Sensex fell by 33.51 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 15,937.24 in opening trade today.
