Chiranjeevi bags RS seat with Sonia's blessing: Sources

Hyderabad, Dec 23: It seems that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has kept her promise to Chiranjeevi as speculations are doing the rounds that the actor-turn-politician is all set to bag a seat in Rajya Sabha. Now all eyes have fell on the rest of the three seats.

It is expected that Congress can grab four seats in the state assembly, while the remaining two can be bagged by the TDP. The vacancies have been created as terms of six ministers - Dasari Narayana Rao, Rashid Alvi, K Keshava Rao, G Sanjeeva Reddy (Congress), M V Mysura Reddy (TDP) and Syed Azeez Pasha (CPI) will end in Apr 2012.

CPI, which succeeded to win seats last time over its coalition with the Congress, may not experience the same situation as it parted with the later.

After the merger of PRP and the Congress, Chiranjeevi had met Sonia Gandhi in the national capital, Delhi. During the meeting, Chiranjeevi was reportedly assured a crucial position and additional responsibilities as well.
