Lokpal row:Steep rents force Anna shift venue to Azad Maidan

New Delhi, Dec 22: Steep rents forced Team Anna members shift their fast venue. Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal declared that Mumbai's Azad Maidan has been chosen as the final venue for Anna Hazare's three-day hunger strike which will be held from Dec 27 to Dec 29.

Meanwhile, Anna Hazare has returned to his village, Ralegaon Siddhi from Delhi. Rejecting the draft tabled by the government, Anna has announced his three-day-long fast which will be followed by a 'jail bharo' movement from Dec 30.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority ruled out any reduction in the rent for Team Anna's Mumbai protest. This made team Anna shift their venue from MMRDA grounds to Azad Maidan.

Anna Hazare slammed the government draft as it excluded the CBI from the Lokpal's ambit. Anna also accused the government of tabling a weak Citizen Charter bill. He alleged that the government's intentions were not honest on Lokpal Bill.
