DMDK man commits suicide over Mullaperiyar issue

The man was found to have consumed poison at a hotel in Virudhachalam from where he was rushed to the hospital and died later.
The police later visited the hotel and found a suicide note addressed to the DMDK Chief Vijayakanth that read that he took the extreme step as he was apparently upset over the Mullaperiyar issue. The suicide note also read that he chose Virudhachalam as the place to sacrifice his life, as this was the place where Vijaykanth won the assembly seat in 2006 assembly polls.
Meanwhile, MDMK chief Vaiko was arrested yesterday while crossing the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.
He was leading an economic blockade against Kerala so as to block 13 major routes from Tamil Nadu to Kerala.
