Bangalore University likely to be bifurcated

Bangalore University
Bangalore, Dec 22: The Minister of Higher Education of Karnataka, Dr V S Acharya has put a proposal before state government to split Bangalore University into two.

Meanwhile, the Minister claimed that the decision has been taken for smooth running of the University. "This is the opinion of many scholars and the government is giving serious thought to the matter. Though most of the academicians want to split it, they want the university to be affiliated with Bangalore," he said.

"Considering this, the government may name the two university as Bangalore North University and Bangalore South University after the bifurcation," he added.

Commenting on the attack against Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev by Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) activists, Acharya said that the activists are not satisfied with the functioning of Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar with regard to announcing the date of examination of various courses.
