WB: Infant dies after drunk staff takes off oxgyen mask

Kolkata, Dec 19:The city of joy faced three tragedies in a month. On Monday, Dec 19, a complaint was registered with the Calcutta Medical College Hospital on the grounds that a drunk sub-staff Manmohan Raut removed the oxygen mask of a month-old infant, who died on Sunday, Dec 18.

The infant's neighbours and relatives claimed that the local police refused to accept their complaints, following the refusal, the family protested outside the hospital and registered their complaint with the hospital authorities.

Sushanta Banerjee, the Director of Medical Education has received a complaint and has ordered an inquiry into the case. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) slammed the hospital for the medical negligence and said that stringent action must be taken against the accused.

The bereaved family alleged that the hospital is protecting the accused and has not taken any action against him.
