Lucknow, Dec 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent back Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's proposal to split Uttar Pradesh into four parts. The ministry has raised eight questions on her proposal.

A month back, Mayawati has proposed the division of the state into four parts for better administration. SP has strongly opposed the proposal, while the Congress and BJP has referred it a drawback for the state. The opposition party has considered Mayawati's step as a political stunt before the upcoming assembly elections in 2012.

According to source, Mayawati has demanded to create Purvanchal, Bundelkahand, Awadh Pradesh and Paschim Pradesh.

The BSP government thinks that if it were a country, then it would be the 5th most populous country in the world. when Uttarkhand was separated from Uttar Pradesh, there was a fear that it may collapse. Despite having political instability, the state is progressing rapidly. The annual growth rate of Uttarkhand is 10.8 percent whereas UP's annual growth is 5.4 percent.
