Govt's unwillingness to part with CBI to protect past: Bedi

New Delhi, Dec 19: Amid the clamour from a section to bring CBI under the control of Lokpal, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi today (Dec 19) alleged that the government's unwillingness to part with the probe agency was to protect its past.

"People are demanding to make CBI effective and not divide and share it. Original government draft was to keep original CBI with them. May be to keep past protected? And create another one with borrowed resources?" she said. She said the government claims to bring a very strong Lokpal but a divided CBI will only further weaken the system.

Team Anna has been consistently demanding that the anti- corruption wing of CBI be brought under the control of Lokpal.
