Cong govt ignoring plight of poor farmers: BJP farmers' wing

Jaipur, Dec 19: Accusing Congress-led Rajasthan government of exploiting farmers and ignoring their interests, the farmers wing of main opposition BJP said it would organise protest demonstrations at all district headquarters in the state on January 21.

"The government is ignoring issues related to the farmers so the Kisan Morcha is going to organise an agitation on January 21 at all the district headquarters to draw the attention of the government," State President of BJP Kisan Morcha, Sanwar Lal Jat, told reporters at the party office here today.

"We have also decided that by January 15, farmers will submit representation to the government in all the districts and Tehsils," Jat said. He alleged that Congress party has been exploiting farmers and ignoring their interests both at central and state level.

The government is not purchasing crops on supporting prices and the farmers are facing several other problems which are needed to be addressed immediately, the Morcha leader said. "Farmers are now forced to quit farming as it is no more beneficial for them, and it is a matter of serious concern and the government should take steps in the interest of the farmers," he said.
