Lokpal row: Union Cabinet not to discuss the bill today
While, the Food Security Bill will be discussed on Sunday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised to bring the Lokpal bill in the winter session of the parliament.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) rejected the proposed National Food Security Bill and claimed that it was “unacceptable.”
KV Thomas, Central Food Minister said that, "Sonia Gandhi has taken a lot of interest in the Food Security Bill, so we are following her instructions."
The aim of the bill is to provide legal entitlement to subsidised foodgrain to 63.5 per cent of the country's population.
