Another scam over Tamil Nadu govt jobs, Anna ashamed?

Chennai, Dec 16: A fresh scam over Tamil Nadu government jobs has hit the state. Almost 1 lakh names are missing from the official website of the employment exchange of Tamil Nadu government.

Hundreds of graduates, postgraduates and employees of private firms have been registering their names in the official website of the job exchange of Tamil Nadu aspiring for government jobs. The website was launched in Sept 2010.

The irregularities came into light when almost 4,000 veterinarians were expected to receive interview calls, where only 1,600 registered got the interview cards.

Senior official of the employment exchange office said, "We only have 1,600 registered doctors in the state, yet many did not receive interview cards as their names are missing from the database."

All registrations (74,462 new registrations, 43,142 renewals and 932 priority registrations) have gone missing, sources said. However, the officials also stated, "Since it (computerization process of registering names of applicants) is not yet completed, there could be some irregularities which we will sort out if brought to our notice."

Citing the news, many started saying - Anna Hazare must be very upset with the situation as his battle (for bringing a strong Lokpal Bill to uproot corruption from the nation) has been maligned by such scams and scandals.
