New Delhi, Dec 16: Parliament was adjourned today (Dec 16) after opposition members created uproar demanding dismissal of the Karnataka government for allegedly committing atrocities on Marathi-speaking people and sacking of Home Minister P Chidambaram in a conflict of interest case.

As soon as both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha met for the day, Shiv Sena members trooped into the Well holding placards demanding dismissal of the Karnataka government for alleged atrocities on the Marathi-speaking population living on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border.

The placards read, "Dismiss Karnataka government for atrocities on Marathi-speaking people". The Shiv Sena members also raised slogans.

Incidentally, Shiv Sena is an ally of the BJP which is in power in Karnataka.

Members from BJP and other NDA allies, including Shiv Sena, also shouted slogans demanding sacking of Chidambaram for allegedly misusing his office to help his former client S P Gupta by asking Delhi police to close the FIR against him.

While BJP members were on their feet and shouting slogans against Chidambaram, Shiv Sena members displayed newspaper clippings and placards - which said "Sack Chidambaram".

SP members also walked into the Well demanding action against the Mayawati government for allegedly misusing Central funds meant for development of the Bundelkhand region.

In the din, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee replied to a question on Participatory Notes (PNs) and FIIs.

As the pandemonium continued Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till noon.

The same issues rocked the Rajya Sabha with Shiv Sena members demanding dismissal of the Karnataka government, while the NDA members shouted slogans seeking Chidambaram's removal.

In the Rajya Sabha, as soon as Chairman Hamid Ansari called for Question Hour, Shiv Sena members raised the issue of alleged atrocities by the Karnataka government against Marathi-speaking people living along Karnataka-Maharashtra border.

Led by Manohar Joshi, Shiv Sena members trooped into the Well and alleged that the Karnataka government has failed to ensure the safety of those people.

They demanded that the Karnataka government be dismissed.

On the other hand, BJP members demanded Chidambaram's resignation.

Though Ansari appealed for normalcy, BJP members were on their feet and shouted slogans against the minister.

As the din continued, the Chair adjourned the House till noon
