TN:Student held for circulating obscene MMS of ex-girlfriend

Chennai, Dec 15: An engineering student has been arrested by the cyber crime department of the City Central Crime police station on Tuesday, Dec 13 for allegedly circulating an obscene MMS of his ex-girlfriend and also posting the pictures online on Facebook.

The student, G Krishna of Satyabhama Deemed University, Chennai confessed to the crime after he said that the victim, a medical student stopped talking to him.

The accused also said that he took the photo copies of her picture and dropped them at her relatives house.

“We tracked him through the internet protocol address and arrested him in Chennai and brought him here, where he was produced before a magistrate," said G Venkatesham, police inspector, cyber crime adding that they were school friends.

The victim felt dejected after the girl cut off all relations with him. Overcome by anger and grudge, he decided to take revenge on her following which he posted the pictures online on a fake profile id.

He has been booked under section 66 A of the IT Act for defaming the victim.
