Omar Abdullah slams separatists over Kashmir youth's murder

Srinagar, Dec 15: After a local young man was killed by some miscreants, tension gripped Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday condemned the death of shopkeeper Tariq Ahmed Bhat, who succumbed to death. The Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested four people in connection with the murder.

Omar said that his government will not tolerate the killing of innocent people. He criticised the separatist leaders over the incident and said that if such incident would have happened at the hands of the security forces, they would have called a wide-spread protests.

Bhatt, a resident of Nowhatta, was severely beaten up by some miscreants when he refused to shutdown his shop on Dec 3. They reportedly hit him on his head with a cricket bat. He was admitted to a local hospital for eleven days.

"He was hit with a bat. Doctors say that the bat hit him with a lot of speed," said a police officer.
