Husband involved in Bhanwari Devi abduction, hints CBI

Bhanwari Devi
Jodhpur, Dec 15: A status report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Bhanwari Devi case in Rajasthan High Court on Thursday, Dec 15 hints at missing nurse's husband Amar Chand's involvement in her abduction, said sources.

Sources reveal that Amar Chand's driver is the new witness that the CBI has found in the case.

It is also said that Amar Chand was misleading the investigators in the case when he excused himself by saying that he could not accompany Bhanwari Devi as he had to get his car repaired on Sept 1, the day she went missing.

Amar Chand's driver and the car mechanic said that the car was not repaired on Sept 1.

The custody of Amar Chand was extended by a special CBI court in Jodhpur till Dec 20. The extension was following Amar Chand's non-cooperation during the investigations. He was arrested by the CBI on Dec 8.

The status report will also include revelations made by Mahipal Maderna, sacked Rajasthan Water Resources Minister, who is already in the CBI custody. Reports reveal that Maderna confessed to his relationship with Bhanwari, but denied the fact about her alleged killing.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, who has been evading the CBI interrogation is still not responding to summons, said sources.

Amar Chand, during CBI interrogation revealed the fact that Malkhan Singh actually fathered his youngest daughter.

Bhanwari Devi, an auxiliary nurse went missing from Bilara on Sept 1 and has been untraceable since then.
