Black money issue rocks Parliament; Advani slams Congress

New Delhi, Dec 14: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani on Wednesday (today) slammed Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government for not taking enough efforts to bring back the black money stashed away in foreign banks and asked government to disclose the names of depositors at the earliest.

Moving an adjournment motion on black money issue in Lok Sabha, Advani demanded that finance ministry to bring back those money and asked government to use it for rural development work.

"Why has the government delayed action on black money? Even the Supreme Court has felt the government has not been as proactive in the matter as it should have been. We want the government to publish white paper on black money at the earliest," he added.

The Chairman of BJP Parliamentary Committee said that "Reveal the names you have. It will be a humiliation if we don’t get to know them from our Prime Minister or our Finance Minister and come to know from the WikiLeaks as (its owner) Julius Assange has said he has the names and would reveal them in 2012."

Advani also asked Congress-led UPA government to reveal the list of 782 tax evaders names which has recently given by French government. According to media reports an estimated Rs 25 lakh crore of unaccounted money has been stashed in foreign banks by wealthy Indians and corporate bodies.
