Lokpal: Congress rejects Anna's invitation for public debate

New Delhi, Dec 6: Social activist Anna Hazare's invitation to the Congress party to participate in a public debate on the Jan Lokpal issue has been turned down by the party.

"We are not in a voluntary disclosure scheme," said Renuka Chaudhary, Congress spokesperson reacting to Anna's open invitation to participate in a public debate at Jantar Mantar where Hazare will observe a day-long fast on Dec 11.

"This only shows that contrary to their claims that it is an apolitical movement, their entire campaign is political in nature, as we have been maintaining all along," added the Congress spokesperson.

The Lokpal bill, which does not include the lower bureaucracy and the CBI, has received strong protest from anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. The Standing Committee on Lokpal Bill on Monday (Dec 5) had asked for one more week to submit its report in the Parliament.
