Haryana bypolls: Congress wins Ratia seat after 30 years

Hisar, Dec 4: The Congress candidate Jarnail Singh won the Ratia Assembly constituency in Fatehabad district. He defeated Sarfi Devi, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) by 65,071 votes.

The bypoll were held on Nov 30. Jarnail won the election by a margin of 12,703 votes. Mahavir Prashad of BJP is at the third position.

Sarfi Devi had got 52,368 votes. Earlier, Gian chand Odh of the INLD represented the Ratia Assembly seat. He died in Sep which necessitated the bypolls and his widow Sarfi contested for the party.

Meanwhile, Renuka, the wife of Kuldeep Bishnoi had got 32,190 votes whereas Kulbir Singh Beniwal, congress candidate got 17,806 votes followed by Ram Singh Baswana, INLD candidate had got 11,200 votes.

The by-polls to the Adampur and Ratia Assembly constituencies were necessitated due to the resignation of HJC (BL) member Kuldeep Bishnoi and death of Gian Chand Odh.
