Bhanwari case: Arrested Maderna to be produced in court

Jaipur, Dec 3: Former Water Resource Minister Mahipal Singh Maderna will be produced in a Jodhpur court on Saturday as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) believes that Bhanwari Devi was killed on the behest of Maderna.

CBI had on Friday arrested the former Rajasthan Resource Minister, Mahipal Maderna in connection with Bhanwari Devi case.

A chargesheet was filed against the three accused Shahbuddin, Sohanlal and Baldev for abducting Bhanwari on the behest of Maderna and Parasram Bishnoi, the brother of Congress MLA Malkhan Singh.

After investigating for three months, CBI has found some important evidence including call details of the accused, strands of hair, blood stained clothes and samples from lime kilns where Devi's body is suspected to have been disposed off.

Bhanwari Devi had gone missing from Bilara area, Jodhpur on Sept 1. Mahipal Maderna was later sacked by Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister from the state cabinet on Oct 16 over his involvement in the case.

CBI had found some CDs, allegedly showing Water Resource minister Mahipal Maderna in a compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse. CBI had also questioned Congress MLA Malkhan Singh in connection with the case.
