Assange warns BlackBerry, iPhone, Gmail users

London, Dec 2: After Wikileaks founder Julian Assange raised a storm with the leaking of the US diplomatic cables that exposed the real intentions of world super powers, he is back with a bang yet again. Assange has now leaked 287 files of numerous companies that contains some explosive details of mass surveillance.

Assange has this time released the details of 150 companies that have been tracking peoples computers and mobile phones and selling them to third parties. Assange has been quoted as saying, "Today, we release over 287 files, documenting the reality of the international mass surveillance industry. An industry which now sells equipment to dictators and democracies alike, in order to intercept entire populations. 9/11 has provided a license for European countries, for United States, Australia, Canada, South Africa and others to develop spying systems that affect all of us."

Assange even said that there might be an Indian link in the mass surveillance industry. He added, "There is a lot of data in the release. I am not personally aware of the connections with India. I have read an important transcript from one of these Indian companies saying how it was selling very significant surveillance equipment to Ethiopia and other countries in Africa and had very little concern, in fact no concern what was done with it as long as it was legal in those countries."

Assange added that iPhone, Blackberry and Gmail users were at risk as well. To sensitize the extent of the move, Assange stated that the mass surveillance technology was used by dictators to stay in power. On the damages caused, a guest commented, "These systems have been sold by western companies largely to places like Syria and Libya and Tunisia and Egypt. These systems are used to hunt people down and murder them."
