KFA served 90 cr notice; to pay Rs 60 lac per day if failed

Kingfisher Flight
Nagpur, Dec 1: The Mumbai International Airport on Thursday (today) issued a notice to Kingfisher Airlines over the payment of pending dues of Rs 90 crore before Dec 3 for using the Mumbai airport. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already put the carrier on cash-and-carry status for all airports operated by them and have asked them to pay pending dues of Rs 240 crore for using all airports across the country. From now, Kingfisher would need to pay Rs 60 lakh per day to Mumbai Airport to operate flights to and from Mumbai.

Airlines usually pay monthly charges to operate out of airports. Kingfisher operates maximum flights out of Mumbai and Delhi airports.

Earlier, last month, a cheque issued by Kingfisher to AAI had bounced. This follows hard on the heels of a report that a cheque issued to Mumbai international airport operators by the airlines had also bounced.
