BJP godman Swami Chinmayanand rapes, films disciple, booked

Lucknow, Dec 1: An FIR has been lodged by the Uttar Pradesh police against former Union Minister and BJP leader, Swami Chinmayanand.

The godman has been booked for attempt to murder and rape of a disciple.

According to the victim, she was raped by Chinmayanand at his Mumukh ashram in 2005. She alleged that he even filmed her and threatened her. The woman also accused Chinmayanand of forcing her to abort her pregnancy in 2006 and 2009.

The report was confirmed by Subesh Kumar Singh, Additional Director General (crime) that a case against Chinmayanand was lodged and the matter was being probed into.

Swami Chinmayanand, however, refuted all charges alleging that it was a political conspiracy against him.
