Man rapes daughter for over 34 yrs at knifepoint

Germany, Nov 29: A German man, who has been accused of raping his daughter repeatedly for over 34 years at knife-point and fathering three children with her, has gone on trial.

According to the victim, now 48, her father forced her into sex her at knife-point. Her father however, said that they had consensual sex.

"Never in my life have I done that," said 69-year-old defendant, Adolf Bergbauer, father of the victim.

Bergbauer has been charged with 497 counts of rape and admitted to have had sex with his daughter but denied the charges of rape.

He however, denied the charges that he started raping his daughter when she was 12. He said that the first sexual intercourse took place between them when she was 17-year-old.

"She was a willing participant," he insisted. "I did not undress her myself," said Bergbauer, an illiterate who used to work as an occasional labourer.

He further said they had consensual sex about twice a week.

The victim said that her father raped her in her parents' bedroom, in her own room and also in the back of his car in the woods.

Andrea Kuehne, the victim's lawyer said that his client was "shocked and furious" at the accused's statement that the sex was consensual.

"My client would never have pressed charges if she had felt that way," said the lawyer.

Of the three sons born to her, two died, while the third is handicapped. The accused could face up to 15 years in jail if found guilty.
