Girl arrested over adultery charges, ordered to marry rapist

Kabul, Nov 25: The Afghanistan court has given an option to a 19-year-old who was raped and is serving 12-years imprisonment in Kabul's Badam Bagh Jail on charges of adultery.

Gulnaz, the victim still recalls the smell of the rapist's clothes. "He had filthy clothes on as he does metal and construction work. He closed doors and windows. I started screaming, but he shut me up by putting his hands on my mouth," said Gulnaz.

According to Daily Mail reports, she was given the option to marry the man who attacked her or she would be considered nothing less than repulsive.

Gulnaz has been forced to do that. She believes that marrying that man would help her restore her honour. Even her daughter will get a legal life in a country like Afghanistan.

"My daughter is a little innocent child. Who knew I would have a child in this way. A lot of people told me that after your daughter's born give it to someone else, but my aunt told me to keep her as proof of my innocence," she said.
