Karnataka: Lokayukta cops grill Home Minister R Ashok

Bangalore, Nov 25: The team of Lokayukta cops on Thursday grilled Home and Transport Minister of Karnataka, R Ashok over a land grabbing case. Last month, the lokayukta cops had summoned and grilled former chief minister of state, B S Yeddyurappa over his alleged involvement in a scam.

The Lokayukta police got into action after they were slammed by the Lokayukta court for failing to submit a progress report over the case. The case will come up for hearing next month.

"We have recorded a statement of the home minister and would submit the same before the court," said an official, who is involved in the investigation.

Last month, Jayakumar Hiremath, an advocate, had filed a complaint against Home minister R Ashok and former CM BS Yeddyruppa before the Lokayukta court.

Ashok has been accused over the illegal denotification of 22 guntas in Lottegollahalli, which was earlier acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority. BS Yeddyruppa is also involved in the case.

M Manjunath, a Right to Information activist previously had filed a similar complaint before the 23rd additional civil and sessions court.
