Kishenji's encounter was a clean operation, says CRPF

Kishenji
Jhargram (West Bengal), Nov 25: The Central Reserve Police Force on Friday denied that top Maoist leader Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji was killed in a fake encounter.

The encounter of Kishenji in West Bengal was a "clean" operation, claimed K Vijay Kumar, the director general of CRPF.

"We are confident that Kishenji has been killed. We were surprised that the normal security that Kishenji had was missing. It was absolutely a clean encounter but whenever such operations happen, such allegations always come. I am not surprised with the allegations being put," Vijay Kumar told the media.

Vineet Goel, DIG, Midnapore and the in-charge of the operations claimed that they got the information that Kishenji along with other Maoist leaders were hiding in the Kushboni jungle near Burishol village in Junglemahal area of West Bengal.

CRPF clarified the controversy created by Kishenji's mother and some Left leaders, who alleged that the Maoist leader had been arrested and killed in a fake encounter.

According to sources, Kishenji's mother Madhuramma is said to be filing a petition in Calcutta High Court and demanded a judicial inquiry into her son's killing.

Gurudas Dasgupta, CPI leader also said that the Kishenji's encounter appeared to be fake.

He said in a written statement, "It appears that he was arrested earlier. I request the Prime Minister to inquire the encounter of Maoist leader Kishenji."
