Eunuch and Advani rival in past election shot dead in Guj

Ahmedabad, Nov 25: The eunuch who had the guts to fight the Lok Sabha elections against senior BJP leader LK Advani was shot dead on Thursday by unidentified assailants. Sonia De fought the polls against Advani in 2004 and 2009. She was shot dead near the Roopalee Cinema in Ahmedabad.

Sonia was shot four times by men who came in a car. She is a prominent face as the voice of the eunuch community in Gujarat. Her real name is Imran Ajmeri and is also referred to as Sonia Masi. She was believed to have been shot at point-blank range leading to instant death. DCP HK Patel said on the incident, "De's wounds suggest she was shot at point-blank range. De was rushed to V S Hospital by her associates where the eunuch was declared dead. The bullets hit her in her hand, back, waist and neck."

She was rushed to the VS hospital but was declared "brought dead". The incident is believed to have taken place at around 8:20pm. The reason for the shooting is understood to be gang wars between rival eunuch gangs.

Sonia was earlier attacked in 2008 near the Nehru Bridge circle. Besides her political career, she was the face of eunuchs in Gujarat and often participated in fashion shows.
