'Slapped only once'; Anna comments on Sharad Pawar assault

Ralegan Siddhi, Nov 24: NCP leader Sharad Pawar had to face humiliation of the highest order after he was slapped by a youth over being frustrated with the rising prices and hike in inflation levels. But a passing comment made by anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare is hogging the limelight when he said, "He was slapped? Was he slapped only once?" The statement is gaining more prominence than the actual incident itself.

Anna made the comment on the slapping episode after reporters inquired his view point. The assaulter even stated to media persons gathered at the venue of the assault and said, "The prices for all essential commodities have risen. Annaji requested for Lokpal but it did not work out. I'm not a terrorist as a terrorist would never take such a step. I'm fed up of all the corrupt ministers involved in various scams."

The accused named Harvinder Singh declared, "everybody are thief's and all they are capable to do is scams." He was seen shouting slogans against the rampant corruption and price rise. Pulling out his knife, he said that he wants to kill all politicians accused of corruption charges and said that he did not care for the consequences.

Ruling out the effort as a publicity stunt, Singh said that he intended to kill the politician if he had his "kirpan".

Meanwhile, politicians across parties have condemned the attacks. There are opinions among the public that this was one of the reactions of the aam aadmi who are bearing the brunt of the steep price rise and the corruption in the system that is stunting the growth of the country.
