Parents kidnap girl from Delhi High Court premises

New Delhi, Nov 24: A 20-year-old girl, Soni Singh has been kidnapped from Delhi High Court allegedly by her own parents and family members who have been accused of threatening to kill the victim and her husband.

Soni and her husband Vinay, who married without the family's consent, filed an FIR at Tilak Marg police station in Delhi accusing Soni's family members of threatening to murder them over the honour of the family.

Soni, along with her husband had moved the Delhi High Court seeking protection from police. The couple reached the court on Tuesday, Nov 22 to attend the third court hearing over their case. According to Vinay, Soni's family, which did not attend the first two court hearings, appeared in the court and behaved friendly with the couple.

The victim's husband claimed that five-six family members abducted Soni from the court premises after taking her on the pretext of tea. Vinay also blamed the police of not doing enough in rescueing Soni.

Vinay also fear that Soni's family members might have killed the girl in the name of honour killing. Vinay has been quoted as explaining the situation, "on the pretext of having tea they took my wife outside. They then forcibly pushed her into an auto-rickshaw. I then called up the police and got an FIR registered. She is still missing, I am scared that her family might kill her in the name of honour."
