Alcoholic beverage to be named after slain Muammar Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi
Moscow, Nov 24: A Russian company will make and sell an alcoholic drink in the country named after slain Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, said a media report.

A request was submitted by drink maker Alexandrovy Pogreba to the authorities to have granted a patent for the name 'Commendatore Muammar' for the alcoholic drink.

The alcoholic drink maker is a subsidary of Rusimport company, Russia's biggest alcohol producer.

The company in 2003 named a vodka after former President of the country, Valdimir Putin called Putinka which became the best selling in the Russian market a year after it was launched.

Gaddafi was killed near his hometown in Sirte by NATO. His son and Defence Minister were also killed in the fight. All three were buried on Tuesday, Oct 25 in an undisclosed location in the Libyan desert.

According to officials, several of Gaddafi's remaining relatives attended his funeral but did not reveal the location fearing that it would become a symbolic shrine for his remaining loyalists.
