Mamata Banerjee
New Delhi, Nov 23: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has accepted the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as a member of the House from Kolkata Dakshin Parliamentary seat.

The Speaker received Banerjee's resignation on October nine and it was accepted with immediate effect, Deputy Speaker Kariya Munda informed Lok Sabha. Banerjee, who heads the Trinamool Congress, resigned from the Lok Sabha seat after she was elected to the West Bengal Assembly from Bhowanipore.

Banerjee, who was Union Railway Minister, took over as Chief Minister in May after Trinamool Congress unseated the over three-decade-old Left Front government in West Bengal.
