Maderna out of hospital; to face CBI music in Bhanwari case

Jodhpur, Nov 19: With the state of Rajasthan going through one of the worst times after being entangled in a sleazy sex scandal involving the former Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna, the case seems to be snowballing into a larger issue. With Maderna being named the main accused in the abduction and murder of auxiliary nurse Bhanwari Devi, he took the route most politicians take after being cornered, ie...pretend to be sick. He was hospitalised in a Jodhpur hospital.

Maderna was discharged from hospital late on Friday night after being admitted to Jodhpur's MDM Hospital complaining of chest pain and high blood pressure. With the hospital medical records stating that his health condition has improved, he will now have to face the CBI music once again in the Bhawari Devi case. He was already questioned thrice by the investigative agencies.

Maderna's hospitalization was also considered a move to evade CBI questioning and to buy time. The Minister's woes doubled when a sex CD was exposed that showed Maderna in a compromising position with Bhanwari. There are also reports that the nurse utilized the CD to blackmail him. Another Congress leader Malkhan Singh was also involved in the case. Both Maderna and Singh are understood to have admitted to having affairs with Bhanwari after a slew of questioning.

With more and more fingers pointing towards Maderna, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot had to sack him from the Cabinet. Gehlot also dissolved the Cabinet later. Maderna was suspended from the Congress after his involvement in the case was confirmed.

With Bhanwari missing since September, there is no news of her whereabouts and her body is yet to be found.
