Long-extinct double-deckers to hit B'lore roads

Double Deckers
Bangalore, Nov 19: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is planning to unveil double-decker buses in Bangalore roads as early as 2012. BMTC is examining the feasibility report to find out whether the present roads and infrastructure of Bangalore are conductive for doble-deckers, which had disappeared from the city roads many years ago.

According to BMTC Managing Director K R Srinivasa, corporation is unable to find any stretch of roads without an underpass or hanging branches which may create a barrier for double-deckers' operation in the city.

Moreover, Volvo Buses India is ready to provide double-deckers to the corporation when it demands. An official from Volvo Buses India said, "In the coming Auto Expo in 2012, we will display a variety of new products for both inter state and city buses. However, the double-decker will not be displayed as BMTC is yet to make a request for it."

Currently, road system in Bangalore is making a massive barrier for double-deckers and for which commuters of the city may have to wait for some time to enjoy their rides.
