Mid-flight harassment; passengers forced to pay for fuel

Aeroplane
New Delhi, Nov 18: Airline passengers on a Britain-bound charter flight were stopped in the middle of the journey and asked to pay for refueling the flight. The airline operated by Comtel was flying from India to Britain when it stopped at Vienna and asked its commuters Rs 10,000 each to refuel the flight as it was running short of fuel.

When the passengers objected and refused to deboard the flight, Austrian police was called in to handle the situation. The situation came into control only when the passengers were agreed to be escorted to ATM machines to withdraw money.

Passengers were stranded for six hours in Vienna when their flight stopped for fuel. The flight authority asked its passengers to shell out more than 20,000 pounds ($31,000) to fund the rest of the flight to Birmingham, England.
