Kerala origin nun brutally attacked, murdered in Jharkhand

Murder
Ranchi, Nov 16: A nun of Kerala origin was attacked and murdered in Jharkhand on Wednesday. The 53-year-old, Valsa John hailed from Kochi in Kerala. She was attacked by goons at 2am in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Part of Mother Theresa inspired Missionaries of Charity, Valsa has been carrying out charitable deeds since the last few years at Jharkhand's Thakore district. She was believed to be living with the tribals in the area.

According to reports, the incident happened when a group of around 20 people barged into the hut she was staying and attacked her.

There is widespread speculation that Maoists are behind the attacks. Her brother in Kerala has however commented that she faced threats from the mining mafia in the state. On hearing the gruesome death, relatives of the nun have rushed to Jharkhand.
