Rahul Gandhi sharpens ammunition for UP poll campaign

Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, Nov 14: With young turk and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi sharpening his ammunition to kickstart the election campaign ahead of the important UP elections in 2012, he will address a rally in Phulpur, UP as a prelude to the same.

Rahul has chosed his late grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru's birth anniversary to launch his campaign and in his home constituency Phulpur. With Congress leaving no stone unturned to campaign vigorously in UP, a state that is touted to be the game changer for the Cong to retain power, Rahul is playing the dynasty politics card to the hilt in the state.

With the campaign being kicked off in a massive scale, Rahul Gandhi is also emerging to climb up the party ladder as the next Congress Working President. Members within the party and the PM has welcomed the decision to bestow Rahul with more responsibilities. [Read: Rahul on media overdrive ahead of UP poll: Punch lines rule]

Rahul Gandhi's work in the last Lok Sabha polls was appreciated when the party managed to bag 22 of the 80 seats in the state. The Congress will also take full advantage of the utter lawlessness and iron fist rule of the Mayawati government and intends to take total leverage of the situation in the state to make it an electoral issue.
