Abdul Kalam frisked, US finally apologises to India

Kalam was frisked at John F Kennedy airport in New York in Sep 2011. Despite a protest by Air India officials, New York airport authorities wanted to check the former President twice who was returning home after attending several events in the city.
Showing his distress over the issue, Indian Foreign Minister, SM Krishna asked Indian envoy to US, Nirupama Rao to bring the issue to the higher level.
Here it can be recalled that this was not the first time when US officials frisked Kalam. The former Indian president had faced similar kind of humiliation at Delhi airport in 2009 by the staff of Continental Airlines.
