Gali Janardhan Reddy with diamond-studded crown
Bangalore, Nov 11: The mining baron, Gali Janardhan Reddy once again surprised many after reiterating his demand to erase his name from the diamond-studded crown which he had donated to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala in Tirupati.

It seems that Gali might have been scared after citing his present doom state when he has been lodged in jail over illegal mining allegations. He seems to have lost all power. Here it can be recalled that Gali had surprised all by donating and inscribing his name on the crown which carries diamonds which are difficult to be estimated. Fearing to offend the Lord, donators generally avoid their names inscribed on the donations, though there are no written rule in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that donors can not mention their names on donations.

However, Gali, with the dream of immortality, had inscribed his name on the crown. According to sources, Gali had moved the TTD officials twice (once in Dec 2010 and later in Jun 2011) requesting to erase his name from the diamond-studded crown.

Meanwhile, TTD authorities informed the Reddys that it was unusual to modify a donation and it would take time. Here it can be mentioned that soon after the news, Reddys came in the CBI radar and later Gali along with his brother-in-law was arrested. Currently, the mining baron has been lodged at a jail in Andhra Pradesh and might be cursing his wish to be immortal.
