Rural Development schemes to be audited: Jairam Ramesh
Jairam told the reporters that his ministry spends around Rs one lakh crore for rural development every year and citizens of our country has the right to know how the public funds are being spent. Centre has decided to provide the ministry with additional funds for the Chattisgarh development works, said Ramesh.
The congress leader conceded that corruption has taken place in MNREGA and rural road scheme.
On Naxalism, Ramesh said that it cannot be tackled only through force. Naxal-hit areas should be developed and job opportunities should be given to the youths to control Naxalism, he added.
Meanwhile, Junior engineers and development officers would be recruited at the panchayat level. The additional funds would be distributed soon for the development of the Naxal-hit states, said Ramesh.
