Aishwarya Rai's delivery: Nurse's arm-twist for salary hike

Mumbai, Nov 11: With Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's delivery date becoming national news and celebrated across media channels, the nurses in the hospital where Aishwarya is due to be admitted is determined to make most of the hype and make noise for their demands.

The nurses of the Seven Hills Hospital carried out a flash strike on Nov 9 for around three hours thereby arm-twisting the hospital administration to agree to their demands. The hospital has been in the limelight in lieu of the high-profile admission, ie.. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

In spite of their demands met with deaf ears, the nurses chose the most opportune time to press for their demands and went on a flash strike on Nov 9 from 2 pm. A nurse commented, "The management had promised us a 15% hike after we joined. But so far they have only given us 3% hike. We have been demanding that they fulfil their promises but so far nothing has happened. We, therefore, decided to go on a flash strike."

The Seven Hills Hospital which intends to roll out the red carpet to the Bachchan family wants to leave no stone unturned to give first class service to the family.

Bending their knees to the pressure, the authorities had to agree to the demand for the salary hike. The strike was later called off at 5 pm. The hospital administration refused to comment on the strike. Dr Bindu Chauhan, spokesperson for the hospital said, “I am not in town and have no information...."
